Learning Mentor - Food and Cookery - Start Date October 2017

Are you an enthusiastic and talented individual of graduate standard? Are you looking to earn while preparing for a career as a secondary teacher, or pursuing a career within Alternative Provision Education?

The Fermain Academy is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Learning Mentor. The successful candidate will bring with them an in-depth knowledge of Food & Cookery and a passion to bring our cohort of previously disaffected learners out of their shells by helping them to learn, make progress, and achieve in Food & Cookery.

The Academy’s vision is to give every young person in our community an exceptional education - our Academy an exciting one to work in, already have a team of committed staff and governors, who work exceptionally hard to offer the young people in our community the very best.

About Us

In September 2015, we opened as ‘The Fermain Academy’ based in Macclesfield, East Cheshire. The Academy, for young people aged between 13 and 16 years, and is currently over-subscribed and renowned for its quality provision.

The Academy is at the heart of youth re-engagement and is intent on becoming an ‘Outstanding School’ and a driving force in Alternative Provision. Supported by the Youth Federation, the Academy will work tirelessly to promote exciting, innovative, and engaging learning pathways that allow previously disengaged young people the opportunity to reach their potential.

About you

It is likely that the successful applicant will be a graduate with a real passion for working with young people who have experienced barriers to learning.  As a specialist, you will drive your own learning environment to make sure all students have the best outcomes. You will be dynamic and confident, non-judgmental, and flexible and creative in your approach.
