Teacher / Learning Mentor - ICT
Required From: 1st September 2019

Salary: Teachers – Equivalent to Teachers Main Pay Scale
Unqualified Teachers - £17,500 - £18,500 (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Term time only (39 weeks), plus training days
Contract Term: Fixed term, 12 months initially; possible permanent employment on review
The Fermain Academy is looking to recruit an enthusiastic ICT Teacher / Learning Mentor. The successful candidate will bring with them an in-depth knowledge of ICT and a passion to bring our cohort of previously disaffected learners out of their shells by helping them to learn, make progress, and achieve in ICT.
This role may suit a newly qualified or experienced teacher, or a recent graduate wishing to move in to teaching, and so, we are welcoming applications from both qualified and unqualified teachers alike. The role will suit someone who has a passion for ICT and can inspire disengaged young people through their enthusiasm and love of their subject area. Unqualified Teachers’ will ideally be qualified to Degree Level and be seeking a career within education – with our Learning Mentors, we offer the opportunity to become Qualified Teachers through our Learning Mentor Pathway.

In September 2015, we opened as ‘The Fermain Academy’. The Academy, for young people aged between 13 and 16 years, and is currently over-subscribed and renowned for its quality provision.
The Academy is at the heart of youth re-engagement in Cheshire East and the surrounding areas. We are regarded by Ofsted as an ‘Outstanding School’ (July 2018) and are intent on becoming a driving force in Alternative Provision nationally. The Academy works tirelessly to promote exciting, innovative, and engaging learning pathways that allow previously disengaged young people the opportunity to reach their potential.
It is likely that the successful applicant will be an individual with a real passion for working with young people who have experienced barriers to learning. As a specialist, you will drive your own learning environment to make sure all students have the best outcomes. You will be dynamic and confident, non-judgmental, and flexible and creative in your approach. You will be effective and fair – a collaborative worker, as well as having a good depth of knowledge in your subject area.
