As part of their GCSE English Literature course, our Year 11 Nightingale group have been studying William Shakespeare's famous tragedy, Macbeth.
On Thursday 3rd October, we were lucky enough to get tickets to the matinee performance of the play at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre. Set in 'the round', The Royal Exchange provides a 360 degree view of the stage from all seats - really enhancing dramatic performances!
Directed by Christopher Haydon, the modern adaptation of the play was crammed full of explosive sound effects, bold costumes and incredible set changes which kept us on our toes for the 2hr 55 minute performance.
Ms. Wheelton and Mr. Royle were extremely impressed with the students' conduct and the mature way in which they interacted with the play - well done boys!
